FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Whilst Chilton’s Antiques is not an underwriter of insurance, we have extensive experience with Jewellery Insurance companies. Over the years we have dealt with them all and have had varying levels of success and quality experiences.
Our recommendation, however, is with Centerstone. After some specific market research, we’ve found they offer the best service, rates and coverage. We encourage you to do your own personalised research prior to committing to an insurer though.
Of course, you are permitted to exchange any items that has been purchased from Chilton’s Antiques. Any pieces that are custom made or bespoke pieces cannot be exchanged. Wedding hair pieces cannot be exchanged. We have extended our Christmas purchase exchange period from 14 days till end February 2021 to allow for the the time we have closed.
To find out more information on that process, please see the full Terms & Conditions here.
Antique, Vintage and Estate Jewellery is by nature jewellery that has been worn and previously owned, so the condition at the time of purchase is what is displayed in the shop or online, in the photos provided.
Vintage Jewellery will not be brand new, in a “never worn” showroom perfect condition. The jewellery itself may have minor wear and tear, even some small repairs may have been carried out over the years. This is part of the beauty and patina of owning a piece with a history.
Our precious jewellery pieces are sent to our jewellery workshops to be cleaned and checked, prior to being offered for sale. Chilton’s has been in the business for over 30 years. We pride ourselves on customer service and we would love to keep you as a client for life.
If you have any issues with your purchase, please contact our store where we can discuss and resolve the matter.
We do not cover items of jewellery for wear and tear but for any new pieces manufacturing faults are always covered by us. We also recommend extra special care for any hollow jewellery or bracelets with pins.
Claw set jewellery or fine delicate pieces such as rings with fine settings and thin bands need to be looked after and treated with care.
We advise you not to garden, clean the house in your jewellery, play sport or exercise with it on. The lifespan of jewellery depends on the person’s treatment of it. Please see our post on caring for your Antique Jewellery.
Vouchers are a great idea for that person who has everything!
Gift Vouchers are available in-store only for amounts greater than $30. Vouchers are valid for three years from the date of purchase.
A great benefit to the voucher system is that people can add their own money or even combine a few gift vouchers to purchase what they have always desired. They can also be used against the balance of a Lay-by.
Contact us directly organise a Gift Voucher.

From the train station, we are less than a five-minute walk. Walking north along Kiora Road, turn Left into the Kingsway. Chilton’s is directly opposite Miranda Westfield and the Telstra building. Look for the gold and black antique sign.
