Ethically sourced, sustainable jewellery practises
Chilton’s Antiques is a business that is very aware of the environment. Having a business based on antiques and vintage jewellery means that we are reusing a lot of what has already been produced.
With our newly made pieces, we have taken great care to ensure that they are ethically produced. The materials we use are a combination of recycled gold, which we buy in our store as licenced second-hand dealers, which we then refine and re-use.
Any new gold we use is Australian bullion sourced from Western Australia. We are very proud we can recycle our own raw materials.
Our gemstones and diamonds are always bought directly from small family-run wholesalers and miners. There is a direct chain to the origin of the stones. Liz Stevens, the owner of the business travels regularly, sourcing the stones directly in far northern NSW and Queensland purchasing the best sapphire and zircon. Where possible Liz always buys Australian made.
New diamonds are all GIA certified and are in line with the current UN regulated guidelines regarding ethical and sustainable practises of diamond mining. We also offer vintage and antique stones as we feel a responsibility for reusing what is already made in the world.
