Chilton's Antiques Master Jewellery Engraving

Memories Etched Forever.

At Chilton’s Antiques, we have two different methods of engraving available to our customers; Machine Engraving and Hand Engraving.

Machine Engraving

Carried out by an electrical pen engraver, this method is an inexpensive and quicker alternative to hand engraving. Suitable only for basic initials or inscriptions. This usually can turn around in 2-3 days as the work is performed in our workshops.

We are happy to provide quotes as the cost will vary depending on the size of the item, the font and how many letters are required. The cost is usually $40-$100 for initials and a short inscription.

Hand Engraving

Performed by our specialist engraver; our highly- skilled craftsman can recreate original engraving designs and patterns that were once used over 100 years ago. Studying in Colleges of Art in England and Ireland, he employes original antique chisels that have been passed down to him from other master engravers; some of these tools are well over 100 years old.

Specialising in heraldic engraving and family seals (Coats of Arms) and crests as well, this intricate process is very time-consuming. In addition, he also completes ecclesiastical work for churches, engraving upon chalices and crosses. Please see the Engraving Style Example Sheet below to see the options available.

Jobs have a longer turn-around time and can take as long as 3-weeks and all work is on a per quote basis.
