Vintage Jewellery will not be brand new, in “never worn” showroom perfect condition. The jewellery itself may show signs of minor wear and tear, or small repairs may have been carried out over the years. This is part of the beauty and patina of owning a piece of jewellery with a history.
Our precious jewellery pieces are sent to our jewellery workshops to be cleaned and checked by our team of jewellers before they are displayed for sale. Chilton’s Antiques has been in the business for over 30 years. As such we take pride in our customer service and value all our customers, if you have any issues at any time, please do not hesitate in discussing the matter with us. We do not cover wear and tear of jewellery; however, any manufacturing issues are always covered by us.
Jewellery, given the proper care and service, can last a lifetime, or more! For tips on how to properly care and clean your pieces please read our blog on jewellery maintenance! To ensure the longest life of your amazing piece, we recommend the following care and maintenance steps.
Jewellery is delicate by nature and we encourage customers to take extra care when wearing it daily. An easy tip is taking off your rings when you are doing rough handwork that may damage the stone or the shape of a ring.
Gold is a malleable (soft) substance and a fine setting or a band can be bent and warped. When metal bends it can cause stones in their settings to fall out. We also recommend taking your jewellery off when washing your hands, showering, sleeping, doing housework, exercising and even while dressing. This is to ensure that it doesn’t catch on items of clothing or anything that may lift setting claws and loosen stones. Fine bands & thin claws can wear quicker with time then thicker stronger designed pieces it is your responsibility to look at your lifestyle and practicality of the design of what you buy.
Jewellery is very delicate and needs to be worn accordingly. Annual maintenance of your jewellery is recommended. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee wear and tear, so you need to consider the design of the piece you have chosen and treat it with great care and love to enjoy the full benefit of your exquisite piece now and into the future!
Pieces from our new collections or bespoke orders will be in show room new, perfect flawless condition. Unless you request we age them.
All prices, including quotes that are displayed on our online store, are in Australian dollars and include GST. Prices and quotes are correct at the time of printing but are subject to change without notice.
